Load Panasonic Lumix camcorder video clip to Windows Movie Maker

I have filmed a video on my Panasonic Lumix digital camera and it won't let me import it to Windows Movie Maker. I think it’s because the video always goes to the format of VLC media player. Is there any way I can import it to Movie Maker?
