Hauppauge HD Personal Video Recorder

Today, there are many manufacturers devoting to developing new types of PVRs with much richer features. One of the most famous PVR developers is Hauppauge. There are two versions of Hauppauge HD PVR: the HD PVR 1212 and the HD PVR Gaming Edition. Below are the differences:
• HD PVR 1212 includes an IR blaster cable to control your cable or satellite set top box channel changing. HD PVR Gaming Edition has a Component Video cable for easy connection to an Xbox 360 or PS3.
• Both HD PVR and HD PVR Gaming Edition have our "no delay pass through" for recording live TV or video
• HD PVR uses a blue record ring to indicate that recording is taking place. The HD PVR Gaming Edition uses a green record ring.
What’s the difference between HD PVR and common ones? Well, HD PVR can capture HD videos and TV programs on your PC with the high quality H.264 AVCHD format, which can be used to burn Blu-ray discs, while the older types use .pvr as output format, which is in poor compatibility with most media devices and applications and will always need to be converted like converting PVR to MPEG/DVR to MPEG in order to make it playable.
One of the popular uses for the HD PVR is to record video gameplay from Xbox 360 or PS3 game to PC in 1080i HD! That means users can share their best games with your friends in high definition! Just like what Geek Tonic said: "Now I think anyone watching me play videogames is a sure-fire way to put them to sleep – or at least laugh at my videogame performance. But I know there is a very large number of videogamers using the HD-PVR to record their video gameplay."
Apart from that, HD PVR users can play and record cable TV and satellite set top boxes in Windows 7 Media Center, with HD recordings using the efficient and high quality H.264 format. But remember that, there’re still many devices and applications don’t support HD PVR videos. For instance, it is impossible to play HD PVR Videos on mobile devices like iPad 4, iPhone 5, Galaxy S4 etc. In this case, you will need HD PVR Software like Doremisoft Video Converter (Video Converter for Mac) to have the HD PVR videos converted.
