iPhone 4S vs Galaxy Nexus

The ultimate battle between Android and Apple has reached a new level with the introduction of the iPhone 4S and the world's first Android 4.0-equipped Ice Cream Sandwich, Google Galaxy Nexus. As the leading devices of each respective platform, consumers might be wondering how the two match up. Let's take a closer look and find out.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus vs iPhone 4S

Processor:

While the iPhone 4S comes with the upgraded A5 chip with 800Mhz dual-core processor, Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus boasts of a powerful 1.2 Ghz dual-core processor. So theoretically, Galaxy Nexus scores over iPhone 4S here.

Winner: Galaxy Nexus (by numbers)

Display:

As we know, Apple didn’t bother to upgrade the high resolution retina display in iPhone 4S, Samsung and Google have gone ahead and upgraded the Galaxy Nexus to Super AMOLED HD. Even the resolution of Galaxy nexus (1280×720) is better than that of iPhone 4S (960×640). As for the screen size, iPhone 4S is at 3.5 inches as compared to the humongous 4.65 inches of Galaxy nexus.

Winner: Galaxy Nexus for sure.

RAM:

RAM has been one of the biggest talking points of iPhone 4S. With just 512MB packed into it, iPhone 4S has managed to surprise everyone with its speed and performance. Galaxy Nexus though comes with 1GB of meat which should ensure a snappy performance.

Winner: Galaxy Nexus

Camera:

The iPhone 4′s camera was impressive to begin with, and the bump to 8 MP, along with a new CMOS sensor, places the iPhone 4S’ camera as one of the best you can find on a phone.

The Galaxy Nexus may sport a 5 MP camera, but Samsung’s Galaxy devices have a reputation of taking quality photos as well. Software features on the Nexus like the ability to take single-shot panoramic photos with the swipe of the phone are noteworthy, and we bet that you’d be satisfied no matter what side of the line you stand on.

Winner: iPhone 4S for sure

Storage:

iPhone 4S comes in 3 models – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. But Galaxy Nexus comes in 16GB & 32GB versions only. There is no mention of expandable microSD memory slot in Nexus which is so much unlike Android smartphones.

Winner: iPhone 4S

Networks & Data:

iPhone 4S supports both GSM & CDMA (with some limitations regarding switching of networks) and supports HSDPA/CDMA data. Galaxy Nexus though supports the super-fast and ultra-new 4G LTE/HSDPA/CDMA for data transfer.

Winner: Galaxy nexus

Other specs:

There is hardly any difference in terms of weight & thickness. While iPhone 4S is 9.3mm thin throughout, Galaxy Nexus is 8.4mm at it’s thinnest point. While the iPhone 4S weighs 4.9 ounces (140 grams), Galaxy Nexus is lighter at 4.76 ounces (135 grams). As for the sensors, iPhone 4S comes with Three-axis gyro, accelerometer, proximity, ambient light, GPS, while the Galaxy nexus comes with Accelerometer, Compass, Gyro, Light, Proximity, Barometer.

Winner: Galaxy Nexus by a small margin

Battery:

Surprisingly Google and Samsung didn’t bother to talk about the battery performance of Galaxy Nexus and Android ICS during the hour long event earlier today. It’s supposedly comes with 1,750 mAh battery, but we have no clue about the expected battery backup. We are not expecting Galaxy Nexus to come anyway close to iPhone 4S’ battery performance.

Winner: iPhone 4S

Price:

While unlocked iPhone 4S starts from $649, Samsung Galaxy Nexus is expected to priced at $599.

Winner: Galaxy Nexus

Conclusion:

In terms of screen quality, speed, and design, these two phones are clearly the very upper crust of the mobile world.  When we are comparing an iPhone with a Android phone, it’s very wrong to compare just the specifications. What matters more is the end-user experience. Apple has managed to wow users with iOS 5 and Siri on iPhone 4S. Google too has managed to give the much needed push to the UI of Android with Ice-creamSandwich, but has continued to let down users on the battery front.

Suppose you have a cool Galaxy Nexus or iPhone 4S, then, you may know how to play WMV, AVI, FLV, MOV, MPG etc on them, but do you know how to import video to Galaxy Nexus for playback? If you have a video, now you get the iPhone 4S and want to play video on iPhone 4S, what will you do?

In fact, Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4S will supports video in MP4 video format. So the other video format which can not be natively accepted by the Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4S, However, Samsung Galaxy Nexus converter for mac and iPhone 4S converter for machave released to convert video to MP4 mac for playing on Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4S on Mac OS X Lion, Mac 10.7, Mac Snow Leopard, Mac 10.6 and Mac 10.5 operating system etc.

iPhone 4 vs iPhone 4S

With the announcement of the iPhone 4S, it was never going to be too long before the comparisons with other smartphones on the market began to surface. A comparison puts everything into perspective by comparing Apple’s latest iPhone 4S with its predecessor iPhone 4.

The iPhone 4S, 3.5-inch IPS 960 x 640

The iPhone 4, 3.5-inch IPS 960 x 640

Conclusion:

There’d be something seriously wrong if the iPhone 4S didn’t come out on top here, but is it so much better that you need to upgrade? It’s also arguable as to whether 4G connectivity or AirPlay Mirroring – which only works with Apple TV anyway – is really going to add enough value for many people as well.

Suppose you have a cool iPhone 4S, then, you may know how to play video on iPhone 4, Samsung Galaxy S2 etc, but do you know how to import video to iPhone 4S for playback? If you have a video, now you get the iPhone 4S and want to play video on iPhone 4S, what will you do?

Samsung Galaxy S2 vs iPhone 4S

Samsung Galaxy S2 and Apple iPhone 4S are trying to attract customers in what seems a fight of super phones. The two phones are great and almost compete in every sense of the competition, but which one is better?

iPhone 4S vs Samsung Galaxy S2

Price:

iPhone 4S: 16GB($199); 32GB($299); 64GB($399)

Samsung GalaxyS II: $199-$299

Design:

The iPhone 4S has a smaller screen at only 3.5 inches – but carries a Retina Display (960×640 pixel resolution at 326 ppi).

The Samsung Galaxy S2 has a 4.3-inch, 800×480 pixels screen with Samsung’s Super AMOLED Plus technology.

Weight:

The iPhone 4S is a bit thicker than the Galaxy S2, measuring 9.3mm; it is slightly heavier too weighing in at 140g.

The Galaxy S2 is 8.49mm thick and weighs only 116g.

Operating system:

The Apple iPhone 4S, equipped with the recently-announcd iOs 5

The Samsung Galaxy S2 runs on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS with updates being push out for the latest Android.

Processor:

iPhone 4S: Dual Core 1.5 or 1.2 GHZ

Samsung GalaxyS II: A5 Dual Core

Camera:

The iPhone 4S has stepped up to the plate with an 8 megapixel camera capable of capturing 1080p video footage

The Galaxy S2 packs a 8 megapixel camera with single LED flash that is capable of capturing 1080p video footage

Battery:

The iPhone 4S offers 200 hours on standby on 3G and talk time is 8 hours on 3G, 14 hours on 2G GSM, if you use the internet you can expect 9 hours max on Wi-Fi and up to 6 hours on 3G.

The battery life on the Samsung Galaxy S2 Global phone provides up to 610 hours on 3G standby time, 710 hours on 2G, as well as 8 hours 40 min on talk time on 3G and talk time of 18 hours and 20 min max on 2G and around 5 to 6 hours internet time.

Hardware:

The iPhone 4S is powered by an A5 SoC. The A5 SoC consists of a Cortex-A9 dual core running at unknown frequency and a powerful PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU.

The Samsung Galaxy S II sports an Exynos 4210 SoC, which contains a 1.2GHz Cortex-A9 dual-core processor along with an ARM-Mali 400MP GPU.

Memory:

The iPhone 4S features 3 versions at 16GB, 32GB and the 64GB, but does not come with a MicroSD card slot, so nothing really exciting for the iPhone 4S.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 features the 16GB model only with a MicroSD card slot; total storage for the SGS2 is 48GB.

Conclusion:

Alright, time to call a winner – when we compared the iPhone 4 to the Samsung Galaxy S2, we found them to be equally desirable, with no clear winner. But with an ungraded processor, better camera and some new software, the iPhone 4S just edges it.

Whether you have iPhone 4S or Samsung Galaxy S2, if you don’t have any code knowledge and want to play video on iPhone 4S or Samsung Galaxy S2, but them mainly support MP4 video format, beforehand, you need to convert video to MP4 mac without original quality loss, then iPhone 4S converter for mac and Samsung Galaxy S2 converter for mac will be the best choice for you , you can handle any videos like AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, MPG, MKV, AVCHD, MTS, M2TS, MOD etc with different resolutions to MP4 for iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S2, as well as extract audio from video to MP3, AAC, M4A, WMA, WAV.
